PhD in Physical Activity and Sport Sciences by the UCLM in 2001, and Reader of the UCLM since 2008. Accredited as Senior Professor since 2018. She was also granted the status of Career Officer of the Corps of Secondary School Teachers in 1991. She has taught at the Spanish University since 1991, first at the UAM (until the 1998-1999 academic year), and then at the UCLM (currently). As for professional work, she has been Technical Advisor and Program Coordinator in the CSD from 1994 to 1996. She has also worked as Technical Advisor between 1997 and 1999; and has been Director of the School of Sports between 1999 and 2001 in the General Directorate for Sports of Castilla-La Mancha.
Regarding her research activity, she has more than 50 articles indexed according to a relative quality index on relevant scientific databases such as Journal of Citation Report (ISI-JCR), or IN-RECS, and 12 other articles published in prestigious journals indexed in databases such as DICE or Latindex. She has published more than 20 books in prestigious scientific publishers such as INDE (with index of relative quality SPI) or Alienta (Planeta), with translations and publication in other languages. She has participated in 12 publications of recognized prestige in the field of Sports Management and leadership, published in important editorials (Wanceulen, LID, etc.). Likewise, the publication of the book “Leadership and Business”, which received the Everis Essay Award (Everis Foundation) in 2007, also highlights her work as coordinator of the National Census of Sports Facilities (CSD), as well as all her publications.
On the other hand, she leads the research group at the University of Castilla-La Mancha dedicated to the research on Management in Organizations and Sports Facilities (IGOID, www.investigaciónengestióndeportiva.es / IGOID SPORTEC, www.igoidsportec.com ), which obtained three grants for research (co-financed by the ERDF) in the period 2007-2014 and which still today constitutes the only Spanish university laboratory accredited by ENAC (National Accreditation Entity), according to criteria included in the UNE-EN ISO / IEC 17025 standard for testing sport surfaces. Thanks to these merits, it is currently recognized as a Pilot Research Plant in Sports Surfaces. In addition, Leonor also has led 5 competitive research projects of national character as principal investigator, and has participated in 10 regional and 2 European projects as a partner. She has also directed more than 28 projects and research contracts with companies and public administrations, and has collaborated in 10 other research projects with transfer of results to companies and administrations. She is also the promoter and founder of IGOID-SPORTEC, spin off from the University of Castilla-La Mancha.
Also, she has developed its teaching and research activity in other countries and prestigious centres. In this sense, it is important to highlight 2 ‘Salvador de Madariaga’ state scholarships, one in 2010 for the Institute of Biomechanics of Valencia and another in 2015 for the University of Kent (United Kingdom). These are complemented by another 4 long-term stays with regional programs co-financed with FEDER funds. She is also a regular lecturer in different universities of Portugal (University of Evora and University of Porto among others), Latin America (University of Antioquia in Colombia among others) and Mozambique (University of Maputo).
